Today I’m really excited to launch my new series, entitled Global Muslim Mummy. The aim of this series is to highlight how even though we may be spread across the globe, and have different home languages and cultural experiences, the binding force that is Islam is ever present.
The mums had to answer a series a questions, and I have to say that it was very enlightening to read the answers. The response to my initial request was overwhelming and so Ive chosen a few of the responses to highlight on the blog. These range from mums with just 1 child to moms of 3 children, mums who are stay home mums to those studying and/or working outside the home. Some of these moms are bloggers and some aren’t. Ive even gotten perspective from a military mummy! But all of them have 1 thing in common: Striving to do the best they can for their children.
The best part is that the respondents really and truly gave meaning to the title ‘Global Muslim Mums’ We have mothers from Canada to Saudi Arabia, to Australia to South Africa.
P.S: If you are a blogger who’s been featured here, feel free to use the above image as a badge, if you’d like to, and to link back to your response.
The contributors are as follows:
- Shumaysa from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
- Anisa from Durban, South Africa
- Aasiyah from Mississauga, Canada
- Sairish from Wales, UK
- Aneesa from Laudium, South Africa
- Lisha from Doha, Qatar
- Saima from Karachi, Pakistan
- Farnaaz from Port Shepstone, South Africa
- Jameela from Sydney, Australia
- Fierdous from CapeTown, South Africa
All of the “X”s on the map above represent the countries that we’ve respondents from. I know this is just the tip of the iceberg, but its been so interesting and so refreshing to see that despite, the huge distances that separate us, all mums throughout the world, are united in very similar faith-inclined aspirations for their children. Islam is truly a unifying force, Alhamdulillah!
InShaAllah, I hope that this was simply the first edition of the GLOBAL MUSLIM MUMMY Series, and am hoping to add this list in the future.
A huge thank you/ Jazakallah/ shukran to all who participated ❤
